“Goin’ Wild For You” – Bonnie Raitt’s cover
I wrote this one with the inestimable David Batteau. We weren’t thinking of anything or anyone in particular when we wrote it… just sitting around banging out a tune. Luckily for us this one landed in a good place. I thought it might be interesting to give you two versions: one by a major recording star (Bonnie Raitt) and my demo recording. Gives you an idea of the journey a song can take from demo state to finished product. Sometimes the journey can end in disappointment, where the demo clearly “beats” the cover recording, but never with Ms. Raitt. Like a true artist she puts her signature on a song and makes it her own. I’m proud of the fact that Bonnie counts this as one of her all time favorites. I hope you enjoy, or better yet, go wild for it.

I think Bonnie was looking for another “Love Has No Pride” (Eric Kaz/Libby Titus), and she almost had it with this one. Unfortunately, her initial career was on the wane (before ’89’s Nick of Time brought her back twice as strong); that wane, of course, was completely unjustified since both The Glow, for which “Goin’ Wild For You Baby” was the punchline/potential break-out, and the followup Green Light were both great albums.
This performance really does do justice to this very fine Snow/Batteau piece.
That was smooth listening, She does a great job on this. What I don’t understand is with the knock on your head on the golf course that you can’t knock out some more good tunes. Ha. Thanks, Lou
